randy morales, “creativity itself”
Randy Morales - “These techniques are not just about style but about forging deeper connections with the audience, inviting them into a shared emotional journey that both revisits and reinterprets moments of vulnerability and resilience.”
Meet Randy Morales, whose artistic odyssey transcends conventional boundaries. Morales's medium is not confined to canvas or sculpture but is, in his own words, "creativity itself." From the streets of Los Angeles to the depths of personal introspection, Morales's evolution as an artist is as diverse and vibrant as the city that inspires him.
"My art is deeply rooted in personal experiences and cultural influences," Morales reflects. With roots tracing back to his Black and Puerto Rican heritage, Morales infuses his art with a celebration of diversity and resilience. His unique "no-pop" style challenges traditional notions of pop art, weaving personal nostalgia and cultural resonance into each brushstroke. Through motifs like the enigmatic "equivocal," Morales invites viewers to explore the intricacies of human emotion and experience.
"I aim to evoke and provoke emotions," Morales emphasizes, underscoring his commitment to crafting art that resonates on a profound level. Beyond the canvas, Morales envisions his art as a catalyst for change and connection. "Projects like 'Flee: Dreams Beyond Borders' exemplify my commitment to addressing pressing social issues through immersive artistic experiences," Morales shares, illuminating his vision for the future.
As Morales looks ahead, he sees endless possibilities for creative exploration. "Dream projects are the essence of why I call myself Creative Vice," Morales explains. "They embody the endless pursuit of turning imaginative visions into reality." Whether pushing the boundaries of sensory experiences or addressing global issues through innovative artistic expressions, Morales's ambition knows no bounds.
Despite the challenges inherent in the artistic pursuit, Morales remains steadfast in his dedication to self-expression and growth. "Being an artist means embracing the spectrum of experiences," Morales reflects. "It's about vulnerability and defiance, solitude and connection." From the early days of experimentation to the realization of dream projects, his journey is a testament to resilience, passion, and the transformative power of art.
Randy continues on a voyage where boundaries blur and possibilities abound—a voyage that transcends the confines of tradition and embraces the boundless expanse of creative exploration.
domzilla: intersecting Culture and Creativity
Domzilla - “Essentially, I was alone on this art journey. Not a single artistic friend/colleague,”
Dominique Jones, known as DomZilla, is not your conventional artist. Hailing from the heart of Indianapolis, Indiana, he is on the rise as multidisciplinary artistry. His journey is shaped by a unique blend of influences—from the black women who raised him to the vibrant world of cartoons that captured his imagination.
"I come from a very small family that consisted of majority women and a few uncles sprinkled into the mix," Jones reflects on his upbringing. "I witnessed what my mother, aunties, and grandmothers went through as I grew up and learned from a perspective that goes unappreciated even until this day."
In his artistic practice, Jones merges elements from classic Western cartoons with surrealistic African figures, creating a visual language that is as captivating as it is thought-provoking. "Cartoons continue to play a huge role in shaping what I'm interested in," he shares. "From Chuck Jones to Bruce Smith, there is no bearing as to what inspires me in that world."
Jones's work delves into themes of identity and heritage, particularly in his ongoing collection entitled "Primary People." "I explore the ideas of the original people being people of African descent through color and shape," Jones explains. "I enjoy thinking about these ideas and love building onto them."
Looking ahead, Jones has his sights set on ambitious project—an animated series that explores music history, Afrofuturism, and the origins of the term. "More details on that later in the year," he teases, hinting at the excitement to come.
For Jones, the ultimate dream project involves animated paintings adorning a wall—no NFTs, just pure artistic expression. "My dream project is to have animated paintings on a wall," he shares, leaving a tantalizing glimpse into his vision for the future.
Despite his undeniable talent, Jones's journey in the arts has not been without its challenges. "I didn't find out about art communities until my late 20s," he reveals. "Essentially, I was alone on this art journey. Not a single artistic friend/colleague." Building a community and finding avenues that align with his artistic vision remain ongoing challenges for Jones.
As Domzilla continues to push the boundaries of creativity and explore the rich tapestry of culture and identity, one thing is certain—he is a visionary artist poised to make a lasting impact on the world of contemporary art.
